So a buddy of mine invited my fiancee and me out to see a midnight showing of Ted. Now, Ted wasn’t a movie that I was dying to see. In fact, I generally eschew comedies altogether in the theater. I think that the last one I saw in the theater was Bridesmaids. When I do go, it’s because I know that my girl wants to see them, and because someone else suggested it. I don’t hate on comedies, I just don’t see their necessity as an in-the-theater experience. I have a big-ass TV at home that works just fine.
Anyway, I like Seth MacFarlane. I enjoy his multi-faceted talent and his incredibly inappropriate sense of humor.
Ted was hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. Like much of Family Guy, the humor is far more in what is said than in what is done…and some of what is said is INSANE.
I’m not gonna sit here and break this film down like I did with Prometheus or The Newsroom. The movie doesn’t exactly warrant that sort of scrutiny. But there are a ton of belly-laughs in this film which crosses the line over and over and over again.
So if you like INCREDIBLY CRASS, BOORISH, humor…humor that ventures into the ethnic and the scatological…like I do, then you’ll almost certainly like Ted.
